A sitemap.xml file is a file that lists every page of a website. It is always written in XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and follows a precise structure defined by web standards. The simplest approach is to keep the standard file name « sitemap.xml », but the site owner may choose a different name — in that case the new name has to be declared in the robots.txt file.
